CANON Fullmetal Alchemist
CANON POINT Episode 46
HISTORY: Character | Canon
PERSONALITY:
Winry is a sweet and straightforward young lady. Growing up in a sleepy farm town, she can seem somewhat simple and naive at times; however, this could not be further from the truth. Underneath the bubbly and energetic exterior is a woman who is tough as nails, driven as she is determined to do what is right and to take care of those around her by any means necessary. She isn't without her flaws however, and can be seen as a temperamental and stubborn workaholic. However, despite this, she is still a bright person, and is emotionally mature and well-rounded.
Losing both parents very early, and nearly losing the two people she loves most outside of her grandmother has instilled a sense of duty to make sure that she can take care of those around her. This manifests itself in a few different ways. As a confidante, Winry will always offer an ear to listen and a shoulder to cry on, even if it isn't wanted. She can be obstinate about this fact, especially for those whom she is close with. There is a part of her that wants to take care of the people around her, not just through her work, but emotionally as well. She is extremely empathetic and fiercely loyal, keying in to people's issues and wanting to be there for them when even the rest of the world rejects them.
To that effect, Winry does not shy away from showing emotion, wearing her heart on her sleeve. She isn't afraid to show how she is feeling, and has often been teased in the past for being a crybaby. It's true, she cries easily, but it isn't always for herself. She feels deeply for the people around her, and has been known to become emotional when they do not feel like they can themselves ("You two won't cry. Someone should do it for you, don't you think?"). In some respects, Winry shows the most emotional maturity of anyone in the series, refusing to hold back unless she feels it is necessary.
There are other things that she does not hold back from. This woman has an explosive temper, and while she has gotten better about it over the years, mostly this means that she isn't as actively violent. It's a side that she tries not to show to anyone she doesn't know well, but if something winds her up, she can and will blow her lid. Her temper runs white-hot, but it also cools relatively quickly once it reaches a high point. She screams, she yells, she threatens (and sometimes acts on) violence, but it usually works through her system relatively quickly. It's frightening, and always a shock to those who only know the passionate and positive side of this mechanic, but she doesn't burn hot for long. Usually, the targets of her tantrums are those people she knows and trusts the most, and they are usually the ones who get to see how blunt she can be.
But just because she can be quick to anger, does not mean that she is unforgiving. Let it not be said that she doesn't remember when she has been wronged, or that she can't hold grudges. Despite this, Winry is willing to work past this—not necessarily forgiving someone for their actions, but doing what she believes is the right thing. She is very adamant about this, placing faith in the idea that people will inherently do the right thing if led by example. It's a piece of naivete that, even after all Winry has experienced, she holds firmly to.
Which brings us to another point of her personality—her steadfast determination and drive to get things done, even if it means pushing herself past what is healthy. In moments when someone needs to act, and the sky seems to be falling around them, she will always step up without question. Baby needs to be delivered? She's got this. Awkward hostage situation? She has a plan. She is the type that will not let herself doubt when she knows that she needs to step up, which admittedly can put her in some potentially dangerous situations. But she always manages to make things work, only allowing the enormity of what has happened hit her after everything has been said or done.
When it comes to automail, Winry is something of a workaholic in this respect, taking pride in what she does and doing everything that she can to make sure it's done right... except for that one time that it wasn't, but she won't talk about that (and thank god that situation did not turn out any worse than it did). It isn't uncommon for her to go days without sleeping while working, only allowing herself to collapse once she's done. Automail is her passion; she eats, sleeps and lives it every day. The girl is obsessed, not just because the thought of gears and metal makes her giddy, but because it is a way that she can help others. But also it's really cool, and man she can gush about gears and pistons for hours if you let her. She wears that automail geek title like a badge of honor, even if she does get indignant about it.
Despite seeing the ugliness that plagues humanity firsthand, Winry manages to retain her kind heart. Instead of being defined by what life has taken away from her and those she lives, she does her best to do good in any way that she can. She wants to be the best automail mechanic out there, so that she can use her talents to help others.
CANON POWERS: While Winry is a genius automail mechanic and amateur surgeon, she has no canon powers.

GAME INFO;
MAGIC ABILITY: Taking inspiration from the idea that Winry's hands should be used for healing/to give life to other things, I would like to give her something similar to this ability. Winry is able to create semi-sentient constructs with inorganic matter. This can run the gamut of small automatons made out of spare parts, to larger creatures made of anything readily available. These constructs possess free will and personality and quirks of their own, and thus won't always obey commands depending on whether they understand them or if they want to. Their "life" is also finite, usually lasting anywhere between a few hours to a few days depending on the complexity of the piece and how much of her own self she puts into it. Making them also takes quite a bit out of her physically, and depending on the size and complexity of the construct, it can easily wear her out.
Constraints on this ability and constructs are based on the following:
SIZE: They can range anywhere between roughly the size of a small rodent to a normal-sized automobile. This is based on the materials available.
CONSTRUCTION: Her power works on inorganic materials only. Using living organisms in her construction will result in a failed construct. It might look cool, but it won't move on its own.
TIME: Constructs will function for up to three days before finally breaking down. They cannot be revived, and will need to be rebuilt in order to be made functional again.
ENERGY: As Winry will be unknowingly putting a little bit of her own energy into each construct she creates, depending on the size or complexity, this might take more out of her.
AUTONOMY: Whether they respond to commands is entirely up to the construct itself. Some may be more temperamental than others.
ANY WEAPONS/MAGICAL ITEMS?: While not necessarily used as weapons (normally, unless provoked), I would like Winry to be able to have a basic tool kit with her, if possible.
ANY PETS?: An extremely good girl.
